Carwash Curse.

With the searing heat, the dust has come.
I couldn't cope with watering my garden, let alone sweeping the garage filled with brown, crisp leaves and DUST.
The car has been untidy with flaky dust. Rush days have left me with nil moments to make a clean, the car has maintained its shabby appearance for days.
Then yesterday, my daughter asked me to drop her off a cafe, so she could read her books. She lagged behind on her studies. Okay, I said, then I could go for the much needed carwash.
My daughter replied that noontime might be so hot for a carwash. I retorted this might be my only opportune moment. The car has been dusty and dirty for a week.
And I did. Felt good to see the car sparkling clean. I could even see a reflection of my self on it.
Then at six in the evening, I set out to fetch my daughter. At a turn in a corner, I saw droplets on the windshield. What the heck, I exclaimed, this couldn't be.
When I got to the coffee shop, the drops turned into rain. As I sat in front of my daughter, she said right away, "I heard the thunder so I knew you got the car washed."
Hu hu, I said. It's the carwash curse. It rains always after the car has been washed. Never fails, even on summer days.

On many instances when I had our car washed at the shop, rain would suddenly pour sometimes right after the wash is done and there goes the amount I spent for the job LOL! For 2 years now, I do the washing myself because I'm worried the pressurized water may hit some delicate electronic parts of the car which my daughter insisted to buy in 2016 to replace our 19-year old Isuzu Hilander which was still in very good condition. But you know what? After a heavy downpour and you wipe off the rainwater immediately with a chamoise, your car would be smooth and shiny.

Yay. I am not alone. Ha ha. And gee, thanks, that's a selfless tip. Mine is that black Vios S which has been of real service to me and my girls. The sensor is all right after all these years. I checked the new red Vios top of the line, but no, I think my Vios is still better. I just have to make it smooth and shiny.

@sunrisefan I am very much a devout Catholic. Gosh, how wondrous and majestic is our God. I am totally overwhelmed by the History of Salvation.
Oh, I signed off early, had to send my brother an electronic greeting. He was born half an hour before New Year. Ha ha. And my daughter and I had to make noise, singing Auld Lang Syne at the top of our voices, to wake the neighborhood. And what do we get? Scary blasts at quarter before New Year. Ha ha.
A peaceful and prosperous 2019 to you and your loved ones.

@eileenleyva Surely you Vios would be better than the new models because you take good care of it. I have that same caring attitude as you not only for our car but for all other things and that's the reason they last long :) BTW, it's a few minutes before the clock strikes 12 and I wish you and your family a very happy, blessed and fruitful year ahead. I've gone over some of your discussions and I can surmise you're a devout Catholic.

Height of summer. Good thing we have many beaches, the young ones even go surfing.
The summer rain was the effect of the tremendous heat.

@just4him Yes. My daughter is in Massachusetts right now and has sent me a photo album
full of spring flowers. So lovely.

@eileenleyva We haven't started summer yet. Just started spring. I'm sure the young ones enjoy surfing.

Yes, you need to care for the car, our most reliable buddy. Without the car, I couldn't go places.

We live on a dirt road in the country, we usually go months without a car wash.

From now on, that will be my standard reply to my friends. I also live at the outskirts of the metropolis, in a valley where the winds bring the dust.
Thanks for telling me the months without car wash. I could go like that, too. Though my daughters will reprimand me, for sure.
