Just like a tomato I'll ketchup here in the next day or so. Meanwhile, here's the next song on my list of favorites with footwear in the title. As I just posted, John Roberts knew this one was coming. Heck, anyone who knows me knew this one was coming! Here's today's no-surprise-to-anyone song from the list. #3: (The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes - Elvis Costello I guess I could have called this countdown "'(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes' and nine other songs dealing with shoes," right? It wouldn't have been any less obvious. But it's one of the songs that I heard of that stunning debut from 1977 and said, "Wow, wow, wowwowwowwow!" As I've mentioned a few zillion times before, this has one of my favorite lines -- not just from Costello, but from anyone -- in it: I said, "I'm so happy I could die" She said, "Drop dead," and left with another guy That's pretty blunt and to the point. It also opens with a great line: "I used to be disgusted, but now I try to be amused." One of my favorite singers. One of my favorite debut albums. One of my favorite songs.
