At 4PM yesterday, the ballot boxes were opened for the canvassing of the results of the local elections. I already had the hunch who will win.
This morning, there was that tricycle that announced the gratitude of the winner of the barangay captain; it was not the incumbent but the challenger to the top post. Our neighbor VA was the second in the highest number of votes among the hopefuls for barangay ‘kagawad’ or local councilor.
This is confirmed by our laundrywoman since her husband was present during the counting of ballots. She said, for every 100 counts to the challenger, there were only 5 for the incumbent.
The incumbent had many mistakes in running our locality. Too many to count, that is why we did not vote for him anymore.
You are right- questions on graft and corruption are included to oust the present barangay chairman. Hopefully our newly-elected barangay chairman/captain won’t commit the same mistakes again.

Good morning po, Ingrid. Hopefully those who are new will not turn into greedy monsters. Congratulations to the new barangay captain.

@mlgen1037 good morning hija. our new barangay captain is also new but he was a 'kagawad' before. i hope he will address the issues of our locality. this morning, i and my sister were fuming mad because these neighbors ONCE AGAIN placed their garbage below the painting that i did and posted in front of our gate. really angry with this

that is true. that is why some officials do vote-buying if they feel they are about to be replaced

@ridingbet Nothing can expect as politicians may change once they get the power.

the re-electionist did not win. the newly-elected barangay chairman was the topnotcher 'kagawad' of the previous local elections.

I do not vote for either main parties running for Prime Minister. Now, I just vote for small parties so they will get in the Parliment.

@JustBhem that is what we expect for. first complaint i will bring out is the garbage disposal where our neighbors once again threw their trash right below the post that i made.

i agree. i also hope the past chairman/captain will dwell on the issues that the past chairman did not accomplish at all.
