Day 27
Matthew 12:22-30
Matthew 12:22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spoke and saw.
23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.
28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then he will spoil his house.
30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathers not with me scatters abroad.
Has anyone tried to disclaim who you are and what you do, trying to take the credit for your achievements for themselves? Jealousy is everywhere.
Not only were the Pharisees out to discredit his miracles, and who Jesus claimed to be, but they tried to tell the people he did those miracles through Beelzebub, the devil. Jesus would not allow anyone to discredit him, and showed it was impossible for him to act on behalf of the devil, because then he would be working against himself. Which he wasn’t. Jesus showed his power came from God, and he worked through the Spirit of God – the Holy Spirit.
As Christians, you know the difference between Satan’s interference in your life, and God’s working in your life for your benefit. Satan will never do anything good in your life, and God can only do good.
James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Jesus could not do evil because he is the Son of God. He will never do anything to harm anyone. It is only jealousy and lies that will try to discredit everything good in your life. Don’t let it.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for seeking only my good, and taking care of me. Help me stand against Satan when he comes at me to discredit me and the work I do for you. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
