Dr. Kalam accompanied his father to the mosque for the evening prayers. Though he did not understand Arabic but, he was convinced about his father's devotion as people at dusk would come to his their house and told them their problems. He dipped his finger in a bowl of water and gave it to them. This worked wonders and they came and thanked his father when they got cured. He always asked his village friends to thank 'Allah'. It's his father who taught him that " when you pray you communicate directly with the cosmos which knows no division of wealth, age , caste and creed.
