Day 29
Matthew 12:38
Matthew 12:38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.
44 Then he says, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goes he, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
People look for signs in everything they do, hoping for good outcomes for their tasks or plans. Many calls them omens, and depending on those omens, will either go ahead with their tasks or plans, or set them aside. Many also consult horoscopes and any other means to determine the plausibility of what they hope to do.
The Pharisees asked Jesus for a sign, and Jesus told them the only sign he would give them was the signs from the prophets who proclaimed about him. He had told them who he was, and still they wouldn’t believe him, expecting more tangible evidence.
As Christians, the only signs you should consider are found in the Bible. Jesus said pray, and seek the Father’s will, and he would answer. You don’t need all the worldly signs, which are from Satan, manmade to cause people fear, holding back faith.
Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.
John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. (KJV)
John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (KJV)
John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. (KJV)
You don’t need the signs of the world. You don’t need to listen to all the doom and gloom people who come out whenever disaster strikes anywhere. You only need to ask the Father, and he will give you the answer you need.
Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou know not.
Jesus told the Pharisees not to look at worldly signs, but to look at the signs already given through the prophets. They all pointed to him.
Let’s pray: Father, help me seek you only when it comes to knowing the next step I need to take, and not look at omens, which are from Satan, and will only cause me harm, not good. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

As long as I am alive, it is a sign that God loves me. Thank you, Valerie.
