Last Sunday ( 13th May, 2018 ) my dad, brother and I went to an event called Mission Control: The Unsung Heroes of Apollo. It began with everyone watching the documentary which was also called Mission Control: The Unsung Heroes of Apollo which was a run through of all the Apollo missions. We did this 2 years ago when astronaut Eugene Cernan came out to Australia. But this time we had the privilege of seeing both Charlie Duke and Gerry Griffin.
Charlie Duke is mainly famous for Apollo 16 and Gerry Griffin was the flight controller for that mission. They did a great many other things of course.
After the documentary, both Charlie and Gerry came onto the stage to be interview by Professor Lisa Harvey-Smith. Both the men had wonderful and scary stories to share. Including the rescue of Apollo 13. To which Gerry Griffin said "Many say that America's finest hour was the landing of Apollo 11 on the moon and Neil Armstrong's walk on the surface but many also say that the saving of the crew of Apollo 13 was America's finest hour."
Sometime during the middle of the interview, we all took a few moments to watch a tribute to astronaut Eugene Cernan. Who, like I said, came out 2 years ago to an event where we all watch the documentary The Last Man on the Moon then he also got interviewed by Professor Lisa Harvey-Smith. Which was also incredible to see. Eugene Cernan sadly passed away last year so the tribute was a nice touch to remember him.
It's actually quite surreal sitting there looking at the men who have been in space. My dad was getting a bit emotional for he has a passion for this subject. I have a passion for it too, only the difference is, is that my dad was around to witness the headlines, footage etc when it was actually taking place. Whereas, I wasn't even born yet.
After Professor Lisa Harvey Smith was done with her questions, some of the audience had questions of their own.
Do you have an interest in space and all that comes with it? Do you remember when these missions took place?

I was around for them and enjoy anything related to the space program. Sadly, I didn't see the last Apollo liftoffs after 13. I learned about them too late. It was like the media didn't have any interest and I lost sight of them or I would have had my eyes glued to the set watching them.
I missed the event today because I wasn't home, but I'm going to look for it on the Internet.

@VivaLaDani13 I found the live feed as they were still broadcasting. I backed it up to the launch and watched it.
