Creating WAVE FILES for Event Sounds in Windows 10 is not that difficult.
First - You have to have a sound recorder app. The free Windows 10 sound recorder app I got creates one sound from external mic. But, it's file type after recording is not a .wav file. But rather, it is an M4A type file.
I got to convert that file using another app called Audio Converter Any Format and it is a free app also. So after that I have to find the file location and it has to be renamed and then copied and pasted in documents, sound recordings. Then I have to open up the Sound events under Sound, by right clicking on the sound icon in the lower right corner of the Windows 10 task bar, then find the Sounds and left click on it. Then to associate for instance, my new .wav file that I did for YOU'VE GOT MAIL, I must first locate New Mail Notification under Sounds for Event sounds and click on it to highlight it, then left click Browse and look in my documents, Sound Recordings to find that file if I remembered first to copy and past it into that file folder, then click YOU'VE GOT MAIL.WAV and click Apply.
After all this, I realize that the air conditioner, in the background did not provide good acoustics for my sound byte. But hey, it was my first try. Next time I will create a new .wav - WAVE sound and try to make sure there are no sounds in the background, such as the window air conditioner, which makes quite a noise, and try to sound like DARTH VADER and say, 'HEY ANTHONY - YOU HAVE MAIL ! '
Then I will really get annoyed from new mail notifications.
