So, Netflix finally has a movie I wanted to see..Big Eyes, those of you who are a certain age will remember when the Big Eyes paintings were all the rage. This was in the 1960's. It seemed like all the stores were featuring these paintings. I don't think we ever bought any but they were painted by Margaret Keane. Her husband actually took credit for these paintings. I saw something about this story on the CBS Morning show about a year ago. She never felt easy about this, as it was plagiarism, but once it took off it took on a life of it's own. It was realtionalized that women's paintings weren't taken seriously, but this was the 1960's a different era. The movie is all about this. It is quite interesting. Do you remember the big eyes paintings?

They may have been promoting the movie on CBS Sunday Morning back when it first came out. I rememberd the paintings, I had no idea who painted them though.

My husband and I really enjoyed that movie. Thanks for the post; it reminded me of this film. Sometimes my hubby and I scroll through our Amazon Prime movie list. I think it's time to check this one out again.

I saw images of those beautiful big eyes paintings in magazines when I was a teen. I don't know why they were in magazines at that time though since it was the late 90s. Maybe they were articles in art magazines I don't recall. I bought this movie for my daughter a few years ago and we both loved it!

I saw that movie and it was really good. I am the same religion as Margaret Keane from the movie, so it was especially interesting to me.

Netflix tends to have the older movies or foreign films. I don't think any of the big eyes paintings have been sold for awhile.
