Here in the Philippines majority of Chinese ( Hoâ-kiâo or Huá-ren) at that time were against the communist Chinese. They came mostly from the province of Fujian. The Filipino gov't allowed them to have their own schools where Mandarin and Hokkien was used. These schools also raise the ROC flag and students sang the San Min Zhu Yi National anthem.

What is KMT? It's a very good but sensitive question,some people think they are Chinese due to the history,but me,I think I'm Taiwanese because I was born and raised here,it's like when you randomly ask a person who lives in Philippines since they were kids,I believe they will say they are Filipino,hope this is the answer that you want to hear:)
