Have you ever paid a parking ticket you didn't deserve?

Our school has a parking area in front of our classes that are out by the horse pastures (only a couple buildings way out there). One day, I parked there and got a ticket. The next week, I went back to see if any signs were actually there telling me it was a construction worker's parking zone. There were none.
The week after that, the school puts up signs telling people it is a construction only parking zone. So I appeal the ticket saying that there were no signs previously, so I had no way of knowing. The school tells me they denied the appeal because they do not feel they should have to put up signs, as it should have been obvious by other cars displaying construction parking permits (the day I got a ticket, 30 other people did too, so I was surrounded by others with student permits). Of course, now they put up signs. But they told me I could request a hearing.
So it's the crazy part of the quarter where you're scrambling to get projects done and stuff, and I never got around to getting a hearing. Finally, I just had to pay the ticket.
Doesn't it annoy you that people can get away with stuff like that?
I didn't do anything wrong, but I still had to pay $39. On top of my $90 parking permit! I'm so sick of all the stupid people at colleges. I can hardly wait until I'm out of there.

Wow, you are lucky!
Our college specifically tries to get some tickets each quarter by taking down the "no parking" signs in certain places so that you'll park there. At least, that's how it looks to me now that I see a pattern. But outside of schools, I've never gotten a parking ticket since businesses clearly label where you can park, unlike the school where the professors tell you to park somewhere just to get revenue for the school apparently.

The university can't go after you? I hadn't really thought about that before. When you go there as a student, a hold can be placed on your registration for not paying. But I have paid tickets before at other universities when I've gone to concerts. I guess I really didn't have to pay those if there is no way that they can go after me. So far those have all been unfair too since the people on the phone said parking without a permit would be allowed for the concert and then I came out to find a ticket on my car.
