A working professional in the capital of India. A student in Kolkata. A young boy in strife torn Afghanistan. A young woman in Brazil. A retired man in Germany. So many different kind of people across continents and of different cultures, regions, religions and speaking different languages. Yet one thing unites them. This is Football. Yes and it is even bigger and more spectacular if it is world cup Football. This is a event which is perhaps the biggest sporting spectacle in the world, comparable to the Olympics and viewed by perhaps more than a billion people. And this game has a unifying power which perhaps can be the key to end many conflicts. World leaders and intellectuals are you listening? That is so true! But the spirit of involvement is so much that people get to kill one another in case of some rivalry in this game! By the way are you following it? I will follow it once the knockout session starts! Nice discussion! I appreciate it!

@MALUSE , I won't take it in that perspective, it is after all the luck of the match which counts with such teams!

@MALUSE Well a Guardian news article says Germany need not lose heart. In 1982 world cup too, they lost the opening match against Algeria (West Germany at that time) and still made their way to the finals. Still a tougher road ahead for the German team!

Yes, football is the most popular game played by almost all countries. That we connect instantly to this game reaffirms that we are one and the same with similar emotions. There is everything to unite us but still a small minority manage to divide us - siva
