Can you tell?

Can you tell what someone is thinking or feeling easily and are you good at reading body language?
I think I could, but then I don't like to judge. What if I am wrong and react based on what I think I know? There are times when I talk to people on the phone and come to the conclusion that they are not very nice but then I meet them and they are just wonderful.
Once I was at an event with a friend and I felt instantly that she wanted to get out of there. She wasn't her usual talkative self, she kept checking the time and seemed totally distracted and reluctant to take part in activities. I was right; she finally came clean and said she didn't like it and we left early.
Making assumptions based on a person's body language, their tone of voice or facial expressions can be a good or bad thing. If you read them right then you can perhaps avoid an uncomfortable situation. If you are wrong then you may lose a friend or make a situation worse.
How good are you at reading others?

Don't rely on me as sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong. I rather wait till a characteristic becomes obvious and I'm sure.

Some characteristics are easy to identify others not so much.

Most of the time, I can judge a person's ideas by his body language.

That is good. I can sense something even though I don't always know exactly what it is

I am horrible at reading others, although I do have one employee at work who wears his emotions on his sleeve. He would never be a good poker player, because you always know exactly what he is feeling or thinking solely based on his body language. We tease him about it, it is so obvious.

I guess it is refreshing that you can read that employee so easily, he is just who he is - no pretense.

@Freelanzer That is true. Love him or hate him, he is who he is. And he doesn't try to hide it or sugarcoat it.

Here people have less body language than facial expressions .However there are also some people who handle the things without missing a beat,so sometimes it is hard to read somebody's mind from their facial expressions.

Its not always easy to read faces and body language since some people are able to disguise their feelings.

Sometimes we put on an act so it would be difficult to know something unless someone was really in tune with you! However changes in posture, behaviour, and general demeanor could indicate something is not quite right. As for me if I am at the theatre and something is dire rather than spoil it for my friends I just go to sleep until it is over!

I have done that in the theatre when I take my boys to see their action- superhero movies and I need a break from the noise. Not sure if I sleep but I close my eyes and go to a quiet place.
