Job dress code

I dress casually when going to my workplace. This had brought several warnings from my supervisor but I didn't care. It seems nowadays he is used to how I dress. I really hate official clothes. They make me look like a clown. I don't understand why dressing is an issue in certain jobs. How do you dress when going to work?

I dress casual because the person i work fo says the person clothing does not make them the type of worker they are its their skills or brains.
