Facebook on phones: app or mobile site?

I don't really use Facebook much. On the desktop, the most I used Facebook for was for games or for updating my page (which is for business, but I haven't updated that for a few months now). I very seldom post anything on my wall. And I only sometimes scroll through my news feed to look at and like/comment on friend's posts. I also don't chat much.
On the phone, there was this Facebook app already installed. Again, I didn't use it much, though I was logged in. I downloaded the Facebook Pages Manager before so I can check on my page even while away from the computer, but for the most part, I didn't use it much either.
But since I had desktop issues recently, I considered looking into using those apps more. I also downloaded Messenger which I purposely avoided before.
Problem is: those apps use a lot of storage space. And I'm running out of space. Do I really need them?
While reading up on what apps I need or don't need, I came across an article that said 'remove Facebook' because you can go use the mobile site instead. (For those who may be confused, mobile site means going to Facebook using the browser - Chrome, Firefox, or whatever else you prefer - on your phone.) Now, why didn't I think of that? Perhaps because the Facebook app came with the phone, and that made me think that that was THE way to use Facebook on phones.
So anyway, starting yesterday I am making observations. I am using two hand-me-down phones. On one phone, I deleted the 3 apps (Facebook, Messenger, and Pages Manager). On the other phone, the Facebook app can't be deleted. I installed Messenger there, but held off on the Pages Manager. I plan to compare using the apps vs. just the mobile site.
Now, I only started yesterday so there's probably a lot I still have to try, but so far:
- It looks like I can do everything I would need or want on the mobile site. Except play games because the flash thingy is not supported on the phone. But I can't do that on the Facebook app either.
- I can check my messages on the mobile site. On the Facebook app, I can't. I have to use Messenger for that.
- Good thing, it looks like I can check my page messages on the Facebook app itself, not needing Messenger. (So it looks like I might not need the Pages Manager at all.) But I can also do this on the mobile site.
So... so far, it looks like I might not need the apps after all. Looks like the mobile site would be enough.
How about you? Do you use Facebook on the phone? Do you use the apps? Facebook? Messenger? Both? Or just the mobile site?
Edited to add:
A link to my notes. This is mainly for my benefit. You don't need to follow it if you don't want to.
(This is a work in progress.) These are my notes comparing the use of Facebook and Messenger apps vs. using the mobile site via browser on...

@moirai Yes, I have never installed the Facebook app on my phone. but what you described in the second paragraph is exactly what it does to me if I try to look at my messages when I am in facebook (in my browser).. SO I HAD to dowload messenger in order to communicate with people from my phone.

@minx267 That's weird. I hope mine doesn't change and do that to me in the future.
I'm hoping I could do away with Messenger there as that's my main phone so I need as much space there.
This one with the apps is just the (older) backup that goes into spasms sometimes. Haha.

I use facebook app and messenger app, I think it is practical and comfortable. However if you have issues with your storage space, it is a very good idea to use it in your browser.

@anikoonline Oh, right! There are times I saw warnings that pictures might not save unless I make more room.
But that was before I bought an SD card. I think now, there's a lot of room on the card for pictures.
However, Facebook is different. It takes up Internal Storage and can't be moved to the SD card. Messenger can, but not Facebook.

@moirai I hope that it will work for you. I have problems with my storage space when I don't delete the photos that I took. I take too many photos...

@anamika161088 Yes, as it happened, a facebook friend had a birthday yesterday, and I saw the reminders going to both app and mobile site. But I failed to notice if I received push notifications on the phone. I guess I'll find that out next time someone has a birthday.

Hi Moirai. I use the app but I rarely go online as I am doing other things and checking my business on shopping apps and Instagram.

Maybe you have a nice phone with lots of storage space. Mine is old and seriously low. So much so that some things can't be updated unless I free up space.
I am a little confused when you said you don't go online but use the apps. But maybe this has something to do with the fact that I don't use data from the telecoms. I only use wifi here at home.
You mentioned checking your business on shopping apps. Do you sell things? What shopping apps do you use? I only have a Facebook page, but like I said, haven't been updating it.

@moirai Thank you for pointing that out. I mean, I do not go online in Facebook that much. I only use Shopee and Carousell to sell my products (lipsticks and women's clothes). Are you using Iphone?

@moirai Yes. It is okay to sell there. Carousell too. You can do swapping in Carousell and sell used items.

I prefer to use PC for surfing since the apps tend to get stuck and sort of stuff. annoying.

But what I did was go through an old conversation with a friend. I haven't tried starting a new one.
