Day 67
Matthew 25:1
Matthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes.
There are two types of people in the world, those who talk and those who do. Those who talk make it seem like they are also doers. They know the language. They might be well-educated in what they talk about. However, they have no skills, no hands-on knowledge about what they talk about. Those who do, not only know the language, have studied the courses, they also worked gaining skills, rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands into the work.
Jesus told the parable of the ten virgins. Five were smart and had oil for their lamps, while five didn’t think to bring oil for their lamps.
As Christians, you know oil in scripture, represents the Holy Spirit. Those who do the work of the kingdom of God, have oil in their lives, doing the work of the ministry, going wherever they need to in order to win souls for the kingdom of God. Those without oil, without the Holy Spirit in their lives can quote scripture, might have memorized a lot of the Bible, or know where to locate passages of scripture, but they never did any real work for the kingdom. They are all talk without any action.
Jesus said those who do will enter into the marriage with the bridegroom because they were prepared. Those who weren’t prepared would not go into the marriage, and he will disavow any knowledge of them.
What kind of Christian are you? Are you a doer or a talker? Jesus said, not everyone who calls him Lord will enter into heaven, but only those who do the will of the Father.
Matthew 7:21 Not everyone that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Therefore, you are to be doers of the Word, and not hearers only.
James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and straightway forgets what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Don’t be like the five foolish virgins who didn’t have any oil. Instead, be like the five wise virgins who had oil, and were prepared when the bridegroom arrived.
Let’s pray: Father, let me be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. Let there be plenty of oil in my lamp, so I will always be ready when the Bridegroom comes. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Does that mean there are many people who have given their hearts to Jesus that will not be saved? I wish there was a study of some sort that would teach us to be doers.

If you give your heart to Jesus, you should want to be a doer. It's sad when the pastor stands in front of a congregation and begs them to become active in the doing category. Jesus calls everyone, but only those who respond, are chosen. Not everyone responds, not everyone is a doer. We need to be both a doer and hearer of the Word, so we know what God wants of us.

@just4him I try to be a doer. It is in my heart. I feel good when I see it in myself.

Amen!
Last nights ending/wrap up of the prayer confrence... talked about there is a difference in not doing something because you didn't know you were suppose to do it (mild punishment)...
And not doing something for the Lord when you knew you were suppose to... that's a very heavy punishment to feel.
So thank you yet again... another example to do more than I do, to pray to be better at whatever it is, the Lord intends for me to do!

Your prayer conference sounded wonderful! I'm glad you had the opportunity to attend it.
You're welcome. I'm glad you want to be a doer and keep oil in your lamp. Have a blessed day.
