Salad dressings

No salad will taste good if it is not dressed and there are many ways in which salads are dressed. I sometimes wonder why they are called dressings - well that is another story.
I usually use curds rather than mayonnaise even for the Russian salad which oozes with mayonnaise going by its recipe.
I also add onion rings, sugar, salt, green chili and coriander leaves chopped fine Not all salads have curds as the one in the picture.
The salad in the picture is from tomatoes I grew from seeds that a user in a garden forum sent me all the way from the UK

I make all my salad dressings. And it much depends on the day on what I will use. As mayo goes, I always use a lot less than what recipe say. In potato salads, I cut the potatoes and add some oil when they are still almost hot. Then I use only a small amount of mayonnaise plus other ingredients. I love dill pickles diced very small. And a bit of Dijon mustard a l“ancienne. And a hard boiled egg of course.

I used to make thousand island dressing I got from a friend and lately I just made a salad and put tuna over or put vegetables in tuna and ate it that way.

Most of the time when we make salads we keep the salad separate from the dressing so everyone is free to decide how much they like to add.

@louievill We add the dressing a little before serving as it gets absorbed in the salad

@allknowing we do not marinate, most of the time our fresh green vegetable salad is shredded lettuce based and varies only with toppings like tomatoes, cucumbers, hard boiled egg, nuts, croutons etc...

I am watching this GrandPa Kitchen who happens to be in India.
I observe that every food he cooks there is always chili, I wonder if you love to have chili in all of your food?

@allknowing Not really. It is my mom who makes it or we buy those dressings in the supermarket.
