I am a planner

I always have been. I plan how I might navigate the grocery store that day, or three different options for a supper. I plan what snacks I might bring on long trips, or what I might do on Holidays and Birthdays.
I plan how I might want to rearrange a space and even how I intend to do the cleaning on any particular day.
Much could be said about my family. They do make plans of their own, and are usually pretty good about executing them.
One thing I can "plan" on though, is their indecision about supper meals. It is the only meal of the day that we decide on as a group. We have recently had trouble coming to a unanimous decision and so a new "plan" has been set in motion.
Each day of the week one of us will choose what we (as a whole) will eat. A lot of times this consists of food that we order in or go out and get. I do cook from time to time but these are picky eaters that I deal with.
Today is my day to pick and I am indecisive!
I guess my infallible "planning" habit isn't so infallible afterall.
Though I will say that I have plenty of "ideas" as to what to eat but remember those picky eaters I call family?

I seem to confuse people, and myself, a lot here.
I did have to decide today's supper - and I took into consideration the picky palate's of my family - but I did not necessarily have to take their palate's into consideration today.
I do have to when I cook. One person doesn't like pork, another won't eat Mexican food.
I quite like both. We are going to be re-doing things now though. I suggested some things that I think all of us could eat and hopefully we will be eating those a lot more often.

@rakski I used to be married. My husband would only eat certain foods. He never wanted to try foods from other cultures which drove me crazy. I love trying new foods from other cultures.

@ScribbledAdNauseum oh that is good if you can decide on some thing a bit common or tolerable for them. It is a start. Same here at our house, my husband's likes is not the likes of my kids. SO it is quite a handful at times.

No, not always. We often just get food out (fast food). This isn't good for us. I think it's time we had a conversation (my family and I) and decided to either fend for ourselves meal wise, or learn to agree on mealtime.

@Shavkat Yes I think that kind of job would require a lot of planning knowledge.

That's good that your sister is a good planner.

Nothing wrong with being a picky eater. I'm one, and my mom sorta is. Just means we know what we enjoy and what we don't. Just as someone, like my brother, who eats almost everything, but hates anything seafood.
We also have times where we don't agree on food, though that's sometimes lunches too not just dinners.. and that's most the time when we go get fast food; but we also just make 2 - 3 things, so everyone gets what they want.
Thankfully though, meals are basically just based on my mom and I so we usually get what we want.

It's me that does the cooking here so it falls to me to prepare the meals and cook them. Of course it's everyone's decision as to what they will and won't eat, but it's annoying when two agree and one does not.

@Courtlynn It's annoying when the food budget is tight, that's for sure.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I do all the cooking here too, unless we make more than one thing. then my mom does one and I do the other. only annoys us, when we don't really have the money to buy different things. but we do it anyways as happily fed is better than not.

I get at my wits end sometimes with the going backwards and forwards when it comes to things, especially food.
Two of us here are at our wits end on it.

Hi Amber. I always remember my dad saying he is a planner for multiples time. Usually we do have the same problem. What to cook for the family can reallt be frustration.

I've been brought up to make plans on things. Spontaneity isn't something that I am used to, though I can be spontaneous sometimes. It's annoying isn't it? When the family can't agree on what to eat.

@mlgen1037 Today I think we might be eating barbecue. I live in one of the states famous for it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We are opposites on that side. And yes, it is annoying not to be able to reach a decision at once on just what to eat.

If it were completely up to me I would plan all of our meals.
We ended up getting hamburgers.
