In today's time, the controversial news doing the rounds in Indian media is the "Plastic Ban" implemented by the Maharashtra Government thereby prohibiting the use of plastic products, plastic bags and thermocol. The ban came into effect from 23rd June, 2018 wherein the government has urged the people and also the manufacturer, distributor etc to stop using plastic. Plastic items like plastic plates, cups, spoons, fork etc too is banned. Plastic bags with and without handle is banned. This step is taken by the government as plastic was polluting the environment on a large scale. Moreover animals use to suffer from ingestion and death due to the consumption of plastic. However, there are certain plastic items which are excluded from this ban which are as follows:- 1. Plastic use in packaging of drugs and medicines. 2. Food grade plastic for packaging milk 3. Compostable plastic bags used for horticulture and agricultural purposes 4. Plastic bags used for exporting goods 5. Plastic used at manufacturing stage 6. Plastic used for handling of solid waste However, apart from this, thermocol used for decoration too is banned. The government has levied fines of RS 5,000 and RS 10,000 for first and second time offense. The third time offender has to pay a fine of RS 25,000 and may have to go to jail for period of three months. I think personally that the government has made this law for betterment of environment and society. I think only by this way, the use of plastic can be prohibited. What you think about it?? Do you use plastic at your place??

It is not plastic that is the problem but the improper disposal of plastic that is polluting the environment.

What are the plans they have for plastic disposables used in Hospitals, like syringes, OT room ares, Hand gloves etc? How will they prevent plastic material coming into city by post or courier and how they are going to ask the tourists carrying plastic things into Mumbai while they are on their tour to Mumbai? Thanks!

In my country, they started to impose the usage of eco-bags. Personally, it is not working.
