Yep, she wasn't far off...

...or he? Couldn't tell, but... I had gone out front to do some desperately needed weeding, and took a peek up at the baby doves again. Then, something else caught my eye over on the roof of the garage just a few yards away. Mom (or Dad?) dove was there, sitting on the garage roof, not far from the babies. That was certainly good to know, though I was a bit less concerned after reading the articles I'd read. Now wondering how one can tell Mom Dove from Dad Dove. Usually the males are brighter colors in the bird world, but doves are--well, grey...

They are beautiful birds either way. The babies must be almost ready to leave the nest.

Don't know about that, I think they just hatched the other day--though I'm no bird expert.

@Starmaiden They're right outside my front door, and I've watched the mama sitting on her nest for weeks. Just the other day I looked up and lo and behold there were two babies. Made posts about it earlier. The time it takes to be ready for them to leave though will probably seem to take less time than it does regardless. I'll miss them being up there.

There are only two. I'm glad they weren't left alone.
