A 26 year old swimmer in Duluth Minnesota had to be rescued by the U S Coast Guard on Saturday morning when his attempt to swim across the St. Louis River powerful currents moved him into the bay instead of the other side of the river. The name of the swimmer was not mentioned by officials of the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office. The swimmer told the deputies that he attempted to swim across the west side of the river to east side near a lift bridge when the currents took him into the bay.
