A text from school which made us tensed for a moment

How are you all? I was absent here for almost a month; I visited my native place in mid of June then on coming back got busy with works. Then as usual the net connection is in the same manner, irritating me much. Regarding the topic, today morning we got a text from elder son’s school, mentioning that he is absent today. On reading the same felt shock for a moment. Quickly we a realized it is a mistake from school authority. Today his father dropped him in school at 7 am for foot ball practice. However, we quickly called up on school’s number and informed that, we dropped the ward at school by ourselves. The receptionist mentioned that he might not reached in class when attendance were taken. They inform parents soon after taking attendance if any child is absent in class. Waiting for his return from school to know what happened today and how he missed class while taking attendance.

That is a nice way for the school to inform the parents that their child didn't attend class for that day. I hope that can be adapted also in schools here. Thus, the child will not attempt cutting classes or going somewhere else with a friend.

I too agree it is a nice gesture from school. But what will happen when the child is at school and they wrongly messaged to parents. Earlier one of my friend received the message and her daughter was in school. They tensed for a while as the child went through school transport. In our case we were so sure that as my hubby dropped him in school by himself. How are you? How is your parents at present?

Anyway attender gone to his class and cleared all confusions after we talked to school reception.

Yes, the system is good but at times this kind of confusions arise. When the child actually gone to school then parents receive a message informing 'your ward is absent' create some tensions for sure. How are you dear?

@Sreekala Yes I agree. But little confusion sometimes is better than the big tension that might come of parents stay uninformed

Hi Sree. How are you? The school attendance system is very good. In some nurseries, there is a whatsapp group, where parents or teachers post about child attendance and leaves. The confusion happened when he was on the ground for practice.

Yes, parents will get information right after taking the attendance whether the child is absent or not. He is participating practice session for long time but this is the first time we get a message this way. Earlier his classmates informs teacher he is on practice session. I am fine dear, what about you?

@Sreekala What the school does is good, but I think they should update the text,if need be, the text they send to the parents. The boy was dropped at school, but could not reach his classroom before attendance. The school authorities informed the.parents that their ward was absent. .The text was sent to the parents.A few minutes later the student arrives the class. I think, the school authorities should immediately update the text that they had sent to the student's parents by informing them that their ward has arrived.

Actually they have a 'home room' period before starting the class. Children who are participating any games events may use this time for practicing. Attendance were taken in this particular period and usually other children in class inform teacher if any child went for practice session. He has been participating for a long while and no complaints were made upto this day. On this particular day, teacher did not listen properly while taking attendance by the remarks of co-students, here comes all problems. Officer staff inform parents right after they get information of students from class. On getting the text from school, soon we called up and cleared up the matters with officials. Then they send a person to the class with a notice asked our son to meet the class teacher and get the attendance. Actually on getting our call school authorities realized their mistake.

@Shivram59 'Home room' period is the time in between starting school time and starting classes. This time is meant for practice session for children those who are interested in sports and games. I too heard it from first time my children.

@Sreekala Oh....so,that was the case.Okay, I'm glad that the teacher realised their mistake.By the way, this is the first time I have heard about this ' home room' period. Why is it so named? Even a small mistake can cause so much confusion and harrassment .

I went to Kerala for a short and quick visit. After reaching back there were too much works pending for me. How are you then? Hope the rain is not affected in your area. Yes, the system is good as parents can aware if the children are missing in class.

That's really a good practice of School management. But in case of any unintentional delay happened from the kids, the parents will get tensed because of this, like what happened today.
