Overinvolved mother in law?

My huby and his brother want to orchestrate a get together between just the two couples and their kids.More than likely,after the kids are put to bed,we'll be hanging out.My mother in law seems determined to schedule her visit at the same time as ours so she'll be able to attend the get together.She is married with friends of her own age to hang with.She mentioned when she was going to see them and when she asked me when we were going,my hubby hushed me and she saw him and said,"Oh you don't want me there?"...But why would we?...We are all adults in no need of adult supervision.We don't need her to hand out rice krispy treats and tang while we talk.Some of our conversations are not things one would discuss with their mother!......Why does she want to come so badly?.....Is she just nosy?

Maybe she is just pain old nosy. But on the other hand maybe she just wants to see you and her grand kids. If it does not fit with what the outing is about, then maybe you should tell her in a nice way that she is "inviting her self" and that she can come over some other time more suitable.
