19 year old Port Huron Cadet Police Officer Joseph Holzberger is being called a hero after he risked his life by swimming into the St. Clair River on Thursday evening when two girls who are 9 and 13 years of age, cried for help when they jumped into the river while their parents were not around. Holzberger was working on a fireworks detail on Thursday evening when he told another cadet officer that was going to swim in the St. Clair River to save the two girls from drowning. Holzberger was able to grab both girls who were being taken by the rushing waters of the river to the south section of the area. Holzberger then took both girls to safe ground. The parents of the two girls were not around at the time of the incident. The case is being reviewed by Child Protective Services to investigate why the two girls were not supervised by an adult when they jumped into the St. Clair River.

Thank God they were rescued. The parents are idiots. The girls are old enough to understand not to go swimming alone and the parents should have been right there anyway.

I agree with you right there. The kids were lucky that Joseph was there to save them.

You are correct since kids can get into trouble very quickly.

OMG! Someone is in trouble. Sometimes, the kids are at fault, don't get me wrong but it happens. I hope there's no negligence on the parent's side. Kudos to Cadet P/O Holzberger for his heroic acts.

Cadet Hokzberger will be rewarded for his great actions saving the kids. I just hope that the authorities get to the bottom of this case and find out why the parents were not guarding their kids.
