Why do men don't like getting tested for HIV?

Today I was working at the VCT. I had many clients and the day was tiresome but enjoyable because I love talking and counselling people. Towards the end, I realised that I had tested only two men and several ladies. On asking my supervisor, he said that that was the case. And that it is the case everywhere, is this true and if so what is the reason?

In my country this test is done in such a way that people don´t have to show the results to anyone. Maybe those men are worried that they will have problems if they have it.

That is really a good strategy. It is very confidential hence one only has to make a decision to know their status. I hope my country will implement this too.

@a_jerobon I´m sure that people with HIV will eventually go to a doctor as now there are medicines to help them. But no one has to be socially punished for having it.

Yes that's always another problem the fear of people knowing you have the disease.

Men don't like to be tested for anything. They don't like knowing they are sick or hurt or anything. My dad had a cut deep in his thigh and just kept working because he did not want to go to the hospital.

@a_jerobon He did and had to get over 200 inner stitches and 20 outer stitches. It took my step brother and I to beg him to stop working and go.

That was dengerous, deep cuts can cause tetanus easily, I hope he went to hospital at last.

I think its because of that fear and they won't believe but for women they'll try to cope up with that situation.

I believe so too. I guess they need more counselling.
