Has anyone heard of this book? Its actually a true story written by Denver Moore and Ron Hall together. It is a memoir that tells both stories of their lives and how they become intertwined unexpectedly. I beleve it is set in the 1960s.
Denver is a "modern day slave" who works on a plantation that literally only pays for the (shanty-like) roof above his head. After years and years of toil he catches a train to Louisiana, where as he is iliterate and without money, becomes homeless, lives on the streets and "hardens". Until he meets Ron Hall at the local homeless shelter.
Ron on the other hand is an up and coming international art dealer who amasses a great amount of weath fromhis dealings. While he is not super charitable at first, his wife convinces him to start volunteering at this shelter where he meets Denver and develops an unlikely, but lifelong friendship. Then his wife begins to deal with some major health problems.
It sounds maybe more boring than it is. I really enjoyed this book but could do with more of Denvers perspective than Ron. But that is because homelessness is one of my causes amd you just dont see enough fiction OR nonfiction about it.
Have you heard of this? Apparently there was a movie made back in 2017 but I didnt see it. Did you? Have you read anything good latel
