New YouTube monetization criteria - any of you eligible?

Over the past few months, YouTube has tightened the screws on channels that are eligible for monetization. It used to be anyone before, then tightened to a minimum of 10000 views and now it is 1000 subscribers+4000 watch hours in a year. My channels are now not able to be monetized. I can understand their desire to have quality content but this essentially means a lot of YouTube users cannot monetize their own videos. Have you been affected by these changes which happened last year?

I never worked at trying to earn money there. I do like watching videos there.

@1hopefulman that's how I started too, then I found 8 could monetize them and so it was a good feel. Now suddenly my channels don't make money again.

@pitstop No, not at all. I do have some videos there but I didn't put them there to make money.

They are now stricter, advantage for those who are famous is that it is easier for them to reach what they require.

A lot of freelancers and small time video producers now may move away from YouTube if they want monetization.

My husband and I had much more on our channels, so we were not affected. Just understand YouTube, it wants high-quality content, it is not interested in thousands of tiny channels of a bad quality, so now, people will try to do their best to gain popularity. Good luck, you can do it

i dont have contents for youtube, and i am not a youtuber so to speak. I am one of the consumers of youtube content. :D So do you mean to say that if you do not have 1000 subscribers, even if your views are high, you do not get anything from it?

Especially the small time uploaders who sometime have great content, but just don't have enough view times.
