For every pharma market drug out there, to treat bipolar depression, anxiety, headaches, stress, panic attacks, obesity, social anxiety disorder and all the rest, there are healthy natural solutions. In this discussion, the main focus is on healthy alternatives to treat bipolar disorder, bipolar depression and mania. It is one of the most controversial mental illness issues facing America and perhaps the entire world. I know that I am not alone when I tell you that I personally am opposed to the idea of becoming a marketing tool for big pharmacy. I am tired of being an experimental ape for the Big Drug Lords of Psycho-dynamics incorpitentancy. You got to take your meds, okay, I understand that. You got to take them or else you get headaches, nausea, swelling, drowsiness, fatigue and sensitivity to sunlight, weight gain, and all the other ten zillion side effects from them. You can and should tell your doctor you want to get off a particular drug or medication just because you prefer a more holistic, a more natural , a safer alternative that may not have so many detrimental side effects. I for one, have walked the walk, talked the talk. and been on both sides of the argument that involves the universal acceptance and dispensation of medications through the ages. Go online, go to the library. Go anywhere you can go, and find some holistic, natural remedies that do the same thing that modern capitalistic mega drug corporations and the FDA push on us every day of our life. Look for things that help you get well and make you feel better that do not alter your DNA, do not change your personality, do not make you live fearfully as to their detrimental side-effects. Do some soul searching. But don't take MY word for it. Do your own RESEARCH. Remember. The main purpose of medicine is to make you better, not make you a totally dependent on something that merely masks symptoms , merely covers up the real problems. Don't self-medicate, don't just stop taking medications cold turkey, not without first TALKING TO YOUR DOCTOR and do things right. Be smart about it. It's your life that I'm talking about. it's your health I am talking about. One simple thing you can do is read from one little article below, that I am sharing here in my discussion to help shed more light on this serious subject of taking control of your life by being HEALTHY without medications, when it is absolutely possible to do so. Now, there may be some conditions that prescribed medications absolutely have to be taken to properly treat. I believe that. I understand that. The only way to empower yourself is through knowledge by learning as many FACTS ABOUT HEALTHY NATURAL ALTERNATIVES TO the pills of our current era.
Treatment of bipolar without medication is possible and natural bipolar treatments are available.

It took me a while, but I sent the link to my bipolar daughter. It is a very interesting post. There are many pills we take (such as OTC vitamins and minerals) that can be handled in a better way by just eating well.

@lookatdesktop My daughter is currently on Lithium and she is worried about it. Maybe this is a good time to seek other ways as she and her boy friend have just decided to live together. That might help stabilize her. I sent her the link of your post. We know about Lorazepam.

@marguicha , Here is one other link to look at. "9 Natural Therapies for Bipolar Depression" - from Everyday Health dot com.
Complementary therapies may help people with bipolar disorder when added to a regular schedule of prescribed medications.

@marguicha , Often it is taking Lithium at near the highest level or rather the nearest to therapeutic levels over time. Seeking a happy medium may be worth discussing with the doctor as to reducing levels to be safe. I know I was taking almost the highest level before reaching toxic level. In my case, I was taking 3 - 450 mg tabs of Lithium Carbonate Extended Release. That comes to 1350 mg per day. That was a pretty high dose to take for me.

Sometimes I think that some medicines that we are taking making us worse. And this healthy natural alternatives will probably give us the solution we need. But in my case, it will not work for me anymore. Kidneys are too tired to take them all.
