We usually call anything news when news are bad. This time, unfortunately, the weather has been the center of the news here today. Tornadoes in Iowa and Indiana, the worst heat in Japan and Greece. Hail in Turkey. And we are freezing in this part of the world. We should not say much as cold weather goes. As compared to many parts of the world, the temperature is reasonable. Except that we are not prepared for what is happening. Most of the houses in the city I live have no central heating. Central heating has become available to higher middle class only in the last years nad not to be turned on every day. Today, a child 4 years old died in Santiago from a fire due to a heater left in a house at night. I was taught from my childhood never to leave heaters on. The heaters could be on when they were tended to. I turn heaters on when I go out of the house, even to the supermarket for half an hour. Good morning to a chilly day, my friends.
