PT at Home is No Fun

Abandoned Sand Castle

I have just finished my daily PT home exercises. Besides getting in a minimum number of steps walking, I do six exercises, 3 sets of 10 each, with each leg, every day I don't go to PT at the hospital. If you're trying to do the math, that's a total of 360 repetitions. I don't do the same exercises each time. I have a list of about two dozen to choose from. I have been building up my minimum step count from 500 the day I got out of the hospital to 2,700 a day this week. Next week, depending on what my doc says tomorrow, I'll probably increase it to 3,000 per day. I'm currently averaging about 3,100 per day but don't want to try to push too far too fast. The day has been dreary with occasional rain and I heard some thunder in the distance a moment ago. Being Wednesday it is also kitchen clean-up day. I have already accomplished this task. For this post I chose a photo of an abandoned sand castle I discovered on the beach during my last trip. Some one had put a lot of work into it and the tide hadn't quite reached it. Looking at it brought back memories of the days when my sons were kids and we'd take them to the beach and building a sand castle was always part of the plan of the day.

The sand castle brought back a slew of memories, both from my own youth and from when my sons were younger. Now I look forward to the day when I'll have grandkids to take to the beach to build sand castles with. My sons are in no hurry in that regard however.

@DWDavis I hope you will have those memories to share with your grandkids when they come along too.

Being able to do it at home would be preferable to the hospital for me. It sounds as if you are doing great. Sadly we did not have any nice beaches close to us when the boys were little. But they had a good sized sand box to play in. The rains worked to wash away their work a few times.

I do like not having to go to the hospital every day. I've only had to go on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our boys had a sand box. We even had a lid to keep the neighborhood cats out of it. Our older son would use his little trucks and push the sand around for hours. Not the younger boy. He'd rather kick a ball and chase after it from about the time he could walk. Funny, he wound up being a runner and not a soccer player in high school.

@DWDavis It is funny the paths we take at times compared to what we did as a kid.

You could see where some one had put a lot of effort into this one. I wish I could have seen it when it was just finished.

Do you enjoy more PT sessions at the hospital?

I have one more regular session scheduled and then one evaluation session. That will probably be the end of it. I'll be on my own recognizance after that.

My latest book, the one I sent you, I wrote in short scenes and then compiled them into one long document before I divided it into chapters. I thought it was a good idea when I started based on a Master Class I took online, but won't write one that way again. I think it turned out okay. It just needs a lot more work in the wake of the first draft. As for you, yes, please keep writing. It's my turn to read some of your work now.

Things have gone very well since the surgery. I've been very faithful about doing my exercises at home. Tomorrow may wind up being my last PT visit. I have an appointment with my orthopedist right after and he'll decide if I need the last week of treatment or not.

That would be a good book cover photo for a story of nostalgia and lost childhood.

Or a book about how a storm might damage more than just the beach front, people's friendships and loves can be affected, too. I'll have to give that some thought.

When I was very young and my parents would take me to the beach, I would spend more time digging in the sand than playing in the water.

We used to build sandcastles in my childhood times. We have black sand and white sand island in my province

I always wished to build sand castles too. Unluckily, I live in a place where there is no sand around.
