I lacked confidence (even on the internet)

I first began forum-posting in 2009, via IMDB (the glory days!). Anyway, I was mostly a lurker (I would mostly lurk the threads, only replying on a rare occasion when I thought I had something particularly important to say). So yes, I usually thought my opinions weren't important enough. I'd go into chat rooms, intimidated the first few times, thinking, "What is this feed moving up here? Should I greet these people back, or should I leave instead?" I think it was 2012 that I began posting with confidence, not caring about the possibility of embarassing myself. So I posted confidently for 5 years, until (in February of last year) IMDB shut itself down, so to speak. For the remainder of the year, I just concerned myself with "how to replace IMDb." I think creating a Twitter, and posting more on YouTube have been a big help. The rest is history, and here I am. Greetings from Texas!

Oh wow! your post made me imagine how you were seated in front of your pc contemplating. But, yes i often get the feeling as well especially if there are topics i see online or here in mylot that I am not confident in. I would typically just ignore those topics because I just might make a fool out of myself. Thankfully I am mostly just trying to do more, share more, so I post more. Really glad you are here so I'll see you around! =)

Hi and Welcome to Mylot. Most of the people here are friendly, so post with confidence..Some make negative comments..but the majority are fine.

I'm sure they're fine, also. The reason I was initially uneasy was that the IMDb Soapbox was my first forum. Enough said, if you know what the Soapbox was.

@amitkokiladitya That's a good question. I was hired by TextBroker, but they took so long to hire me (2 months) that I lost interest. I've been hired by BlogMutt, and intend to familiarize myself with the rules. I submitted a sample with HireWriters 5 days ago, haven't heard from them yet.
