After 17 long hours trip, that was my first long flight abroad. The long wait was finally over and seeing the nyc skyline kind of gives you excitement that you can never imagine. Coming along the trip was the body ache from too much sitting in the plane. The first touchdown was smooth and the rush was kind of different its like you wouldn’t mind the aches when getting your luggages. The only letdown in departing planes, since we have a senior citizen passenger e were the last to depart. But the good thing theres no bumping with other passengers anymore. The first time i came near the door plane i got the chills. A different blast of cold air splashed my whole body eve i was wearing a jacket. That was my first taste of ny air. Freezing cold air eve though we we’re inside the airport. Then we were guided by airport personnel assisting us all the way to immigration. Of course we skipped the long lines again since we were with a senior citizen lane. It was long but i felt a bit organized than any other airport. After passing thru immigration, getting the luggages next then we’re out and surprise to see my sister there with additional jackets to wear. Hugs and the excitement were there. At first I felt awkward wearing lots of jackets on and pretty bulky and heavy. But I soon understand why because as we got out the temperature got colder and colder. We all laugh as we rode the car immediately. We passed the city and was nice first glimpse of ny city. My sister lives outside New York city. Was nice to see ny suburb. Trees abound but looked lifeless since it was supposed to spring season but they say it’s officially still winter. In fact, when we arrived there were still lots of ice lying in the streets which is something different from where I came from. While we got out of the city lots of stories were exchange till we reached home finally then you realized the effects of being jet lagged you feel sleepy in the morning and awake at night. Next post exploring New York and its neighboring states.....

I have never been on a flight that long before. I think I would be scared of going a bit stir crazy in the air. It sounds like you are very happy to get to NYC.

It’s my first long haul trip abroad. Seeing America for the first time too that’s why. Well while in the plane you have to dstrac yourself by watching movies there. We have personalized monitors for each passenger to use to entertain yourself.

@rsa101 New York is very cold in winter. I am not from there but have been there. I went to the World's Fair there. When I came back to bring things to israel i had to go to New York to catch an El Al plane and also the same in 1989 when i was in the States. Since i moved to israel those were the only times i ever went back to the States. I hope you enjoy your trip.

True, the weather was extremely cold indeed. You cannot just go out of the street not covered enough clothing. That is why in my sister's place there are no people loitering around the streets but when it is sunny and warm people starts to go out in the streets again.

@Hannihar What is the World's Fair ? Do you still have family in the U.S.A ? I have an uncle, who is married and he lives at the U.S.A at Brooklin, his daughters live there too. That is my grandmom's brother, I miss him sometimes.

@stringer321 Here is the link to read on it: Yes, but we do not really keep in touch. We are not close. Was he born here and then went to live there? Have you been there?

You are invited to visit my country, it is very hot now, some days the temperature gets up to 40 C in some cities. The winter is not too cold, barely snowing in the north... Lifeless trees is kind of sad to see, were there no green leaves on the trees ? Where exactly does your sister live ? How much pain did you feel after the long flight sitting ?

Well the pain didn’t last long. I guess the excitement being in a new place had me forgot that I was have muscle pains and everything My sister lives in haverstraw ny. With regards to the trees i felt it to be a bit strange but I guess it’s because of the season I arrived in late winter and early spring. The cold weather is something new to me so i welcome it as it’s not present where i came from completely opposite.

Indeed, coming from the Philippines is very long trip. That is why the jet lagged was quite long to get adjusted to.

@Jessabuma I guess you should aim for it so you can experience life outside our country. It is very pleasant experience when you get the chance to visit other countries and learn their culture and place.
