The most affectionate dog breeds

We have had dogs for years- chihuahuas, mini pinscher, and this mixed japanese spitz and dalmatian. The latter is the most affectionate fur baby, we ever have had. It never gets angry or what, unlike our tiny chis. In fact, it cant be a guard dog because everyone is its friend.

I had 3 dogs @Janet357 . A Pit Bull, German Shepherd and an Akita. All 3 were very sweet and loving unless they thought I was in danger. Then......look out!!!!

@ramapo17 Oh yeah. The Akita took over the role as daddy for the other two. The Akita actually saved my life twice.

Speaking of akita, i remember the story of hachiko. So sweet and affectionate. I agree with you. I think God Jehovah, designed them to be loyal to humans.

I love them. I always wanted one but with two big dogs and a smaller one I really didn't have room. I also had 3 cats.

@Janet357 they never fought. In fact my one cat use to open up the closet door under the sink with her nails and then the dog would go in and get a dog bone from the box under there. They worked together. They also slept together sometimes. It is all how you let them be. They were babies together and grew up together. At one time I had 2 huge dogs and 3 cats. They all got along.

@ramapo17 haha, maybe they fight all the time, right? though dogs tend to be playful and cats are not good sport

My German Shepherd is very affectionate, yet it inspires respect. I hope burglars won´t know how sweet Luna is.

Most affectionate dog that I ever owned is a black lab, I miss it so much but it also comes with a lot of responsibility especially in our hot climate.

@Janet357 labs descended from a water dog, they were used to retrieve fishes in almost icy lakes that's why they have paddle like tails. Another thing is they are very active since they are also hunting retrievers so I walk him more than once a day.

I have had a Sheltie for almost 18 years. We got her at Christmas for our kids when they were very young and the dog lived for 16 years. She was great. At the same time we had a black lab-newfoundland mix since she was 6 weeks old. She lived very long also. With both of them we also adopted a full Newfoundland from a shelter and she was 9 years old and was going to be put to sleep if someone didn't adopt her. Of course I did and she lived about 3 years with us. She was so over weight and never taken care of as the owners divorced and the man had a small apartment and could not take care of her. She was a great dog also.

Sheltie is considered to be a smart dog, newfoundland, is like a walking black bear, so huge and yet gentle right?

I had only 3 lovable dogs. Then by the time that I have kids of my own I can't manage to have another dog or any pet.
