We had great weather for our golf tournament last weekend, which meant someone had to pay. It turned out to be our Wednesday night local, which was buried under a couple of inches of rain. Oh, well, there's always next week. And, for now, there's the next album on my list of big-sellers that I bought along with "everybody" else. #2: Rumours - Fleetwood Mac There aren't a lot of albums I have on my iPod in their entirety. Rumours is one of them. I have the entire album, plus the non-album "Silver Springs," on my iPod. The personal implosions that surrounded the members of Fleetwood Mac during the 1975-76 tour, destroying the two couples in the band (John and Christine McVie, and Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks), were put into songs and collected on this masterpiece. Bitter and angry in many places ("damn your love, damn your lies;" "packin' up, shackin' up's all you wanna do"), cautiously optimistic in others (Christine's "You Make Lovin' Fun," about her post-John boyfriend; the classic "Don't Stop"), Rumours is the sound of five hearts breaking. I wasn't the only one who was mesmerized by this album. Its sales to date are over 40 million worldwide. It was the 1977 "album of the year" at the Grammy awards. And, in a fun piece of trivia, Graham Parker and the Rumour titled an album Max to "thank" Fleetwood Mac for naming theirs after Parker's band. In an era that produced some of the most timeless albums of our generation this one still stands head and shoulders above so many others. And it still haunts. Rumours Recorded by Fleetwood Mac Produced by Fleetwood Mac, Ken Caillat, and Richard Dashut Released in 1977 My favorite song from the album is Christine McVie's farewell to her former husband, taking the "high road" to wish him "all the love in the world":
Dedicated to my best friend, Donna Quick...xxx Christine McVie's stunning performance of 'Songbird' Live, with Lyrics by John Anderson @ Kilo Kilo Studio (UK).

No, I don't have any Toto albums. Can't say I blame you. This is a real go-to album on occasion.

@FourWalls I was using the Latin in toto to mean the whole Rumors album. Somehow, I think you knew that.

@DWDavis -- of course, but if I didn't throw in a music reference John Roberts would be mad at me.

It's a Stevie Nicks thing, right? I don't blame you for owning it, it was -- and still is -- a great album in my opinion.

@FourWalls Not just Stevie. You Make Lovin' Fun is the best song.
