I¨ve known that animals, even though, theyr´re from a different species, can adapt to live together. Everytime a dog sees a can, iit starts to growl on the cat. Is it because, a dog hates a cat or because it is bigger? Could it be that animals sense that a person has preference for one or the other and being fair with them will eventually lead to them being able to live together in peace? How can you make a cat and a dog be able to live under the house?

Well to make each other get along, you put them in a room and let them fight it out or talk it out. The fittest will live to tell the tale. Just kidding, don't do it. My parents had a cat which used to love playing with dog, but later on cat they had used to always fight. So it depends I suppose, some get along and some don't.

They behave as humans then. Maybe the owner has to put some order between them , the same way that a parent will with children

Dogs and cats pretty much live by their scent glands which are located in their face along their noses and mouths. One thing you can try is to use your hands to swipe along the dogs face and then swipe along the cats face and vice-versa. They will get use to the 'smell' of each other; which should reduce problems. Try doing the swiping about once a day for 1 week and see how it goes @quantum2020 .

That is a good advice. I will try it and see how it goes. Dogs smeel veruthing they come across with. I think, this will get it used to the cat soon

My cat and my dog are living peacefully in the house without a problem at all. I guess it's because I brought in a puppy when my cat was already an adult. My dog always wants to play with my cat and my cat just runs away. But no fighting between them at all. Sometimes they even sleep next to each other. NO training needed.

Dogs being bigger makes them more prone to attack a small animal. Being used to one another makes them friendlier too

@quantum2020 Actually no. It's not true that bigger dogs are prone to attack smaller ones. They go after chicken as an instinct because it's food for them.

I think if they are made to live together since their childhood, this can be attained easily

I hear people say "fighting like cats and dogs", but I think most can live quite peacefully together.

Yes, I think that too. I´ve seen videos of animals close to each other like if they were from the sma especies. I know that a cat and a dog can learn and live peacefully for the well being of every one involved

Maybe if they are already together when they were babies, they will be used to be together, even when they are old already.

That is a posibility. Growing up since they are babies have them become used to one another
