Are You Happy With the New Administration of YouTube? It took me the better part of my day yesterday but it was something that I thought I better do now instead of later. First I hear the news report about the employee shooting a bunch of people and it turns out she was upset about her YouTube channel losing subscribers or something. Then I hear about this guy who uploaded a video to YouTube about somebody committing suicide or something like that. These are very serious reports. Yet I did not give them my full attention. But I received en eMail that said I had a YouTube channel and my antennas went up! Somebody pushed my “red button”. I was all over it! What? Who? When? Where? How? Who am I supposed to be to be screaming at for this MONUMENTAL SCREW UP??!! OK. After I calmed down I decided to approach the matter sensibly and figure out what went wrong. It turns out Google has made some changes to how they are now handling YouTube and I needed to get my act together, set up a channel, etc., etc. So I looked up the guidelines and followed their instructions and … uuhhh … I don't know! I did what I was instructed to do but … now I'm kind of feeling an “Orwellian Big Brother vibe”. I mean I have my own YT channel now. I use YouTube regularly but never really felt like it was necessary to have my own channel. That means whoever owns YouTube can pick my channel and control it! Meaning … they can control me. Do you think I'm being too paranoid?
