Do you allow your parents to make a decision for your self? Situation like, what school or what course you will take? When is the right time to enter a relationship or when is the right time to get married? For the parents, do you make a decision for your children?
Happy Sunday Philippines! Good day/night to the rest...

Yes, especially if it's too serious and you can't handle anymore.

Well, I think both have pros and cons... It is nice to be independent sometimes but some decision needs a lot of thoughts or advises to ponder.

But sometimes being a good child we follow what they like even some are against our will.

Hi Fred! I am back again. How are you? Before I got married, I let them. I seek their advice. Now that I am married, their advice is highly needed but they dont dictate anymore.

@simplfred I agree. Most parents in out country like to mingle even if their children are capable of deciding for themselves.

I always took their advise and guidance. Thankfully they were supportive and never imposed their thoughts on us
Now I am a parent and I want to support them and guide them and not to force.

@simplfred I hope it is a good way of parenting. I have my own fears like any other parent.

I think that's the best thing to do, to support and guide our children.

I never had a choice way back then, if I don't follow what they want, they won't let me study. The result was I never landed my dream job and got sick. Now I'm a parent, I'll let him decide what he wants in terms of choosing the right course in college, choose who and when to marry. I'll support and guide him all the way since thats what parents should suppose to do.

Now it would be hard for any of them to give me advice, as they have been gone over 10 yrs, but back when my Mom was alive she often did offer advice, but it was up to me to decide what to do with it.

But sometimes they advice with conviction. So our first choice is set aside.

My parents were not interested in anything I wanted to do or did. I made my own decision.

No, of course. And my parents have always been so smart that they made me responsible for any decision I make in life, as this is my life
