Day 40 Mark 14:1-9 Mark 14:1 After two days was the feast of the Passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. 2 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people. 3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she broke the box, and poured it on his head. 4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? 5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. 6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? She hath wrought a good work on me. 7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. 8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. 9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. Prejudice is everywhere. People judge others by their principles, uncaring about the person they stand in judgment of. Jesus cared about the person and her actions. He knew her motivations, and though she might not have known the reason behind her actions, Jesus did. As Christians, you need to treat people the way you want to be treated. You need to leave prejudice behind, and stop judging people based on what you see. It isn’t the outward appearance that is important, but a person’s heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart. Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Jeremiah 17:10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. When you start treating people the way Jesus treats you, you will have more peace in your life. Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. (KJV) It doesn’t matter what kind of lifestyle the person has. It matters what is in their heart. That is what God sees. Jesus saw the heart of the woman. He saw her motivation. What is in your heart? What are your motivations? Let’s pray: Father, give me your heart for people. Help me see them through your eyes. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
