Toxic Masculinity

Men have high suicide rates and are very likely to be domestic abusers because they grow up emotionally unhealthy. To make it simple, let's look at three very common emotions: joy, sadness, and anger. Men usually aren't allowed to explore sadness (crying, loneliness) as children for very long before they're told the "man up" because it isn't "manly" to show that emotion, so now, they can either be happy (but only in a "masculine" way) or angry. Because of that, anger ends up being a substitute for sadness, too. Instead of joy, sadness, and anger, it's joy, anger, and anger, which leads to more violent men who can't express their emotions cause they weren't taught how.

That is why I am very open with my kids and we always talk about their like and dislike and their preferences.

Very true. We still have people around who teach their kids that boys don't cry. This is one of the biggest loophole in upbringing boys
