I am sure that the name Ted Karras Junior is not a household name in the fans of the Washington Redskins since his claim to fame is that Ted was a replacement player during the infamous 1987 football season that had a players strike. Fast forward 31 years later when Ted was at Gillette Stadium in Foxbourough Massachusetts to watch his son Ted Karras III play offensive line for the Patriots in a preseason game. Karras Junior was recently given a Super Bowl ring by the Redskins organization even though he only played three games during the football strike before he was released when the players returned to work after the strike was over free agency in which the owners won in that shortened strike football season. What is that old saying "Better late than never." On by the way the Redskins did win Super Bowl XXII which made former Redskins quarterback Doug Williams famous.

Ted was very happy since the replacement football players that crossed the picket lines had to deal with very mean insults from the football players union.

I remember that season. I'm sure it was a thrill for those players that they got to play in the NFL, even though it was as replacements. I think the ring is well-deserved.

It is true since Ted did get his dream come true playing in the NFL. I also remember that season with the football games looking like The Three Stooges video where they played football. That show had the late Lucille Ball as a guest star.
