The summer is moving on and it is already coming to the end of August. Despite the heat I have to say, summer, Where are you going? I had no time to think of what the summer would bring because at the beginning of June I was preparing to return to the U.S. and arrived in Daytona Beach on June 29. Getting my new place fixed up is taking a lot of my time and I am trying to do my best to keep my writing online going. It is not easy and so July slipped by. Now August is soon going to be a memory but I have accomplished quite a lot and soon my new apartment is going to start looking like someone is living in it. With the nostalgia of summer passing I was reminded of the lovely and sentimental song by Bette Midler “The Rose”. The song is a classic pop song which was written by Amanda McBroom. It became popular after Bette Midler recorded it for the soundtrack of the 1979 movie of the same name. The songwriter did not write this song for the movie but instead wrote it in 1977 to sing in clubs. It was Midler who selected “The Rose” and it rose to number one on the Cashbox Top 100 and stayed at number one on the Adult Contemporary chart for an entire five weeks. It was certified Gold having sold more than half a million copies in the U.S. Midler won the Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
