A digging problem

Each time I look at my backyard anymore, I see all the holes that my dog has dug. If I didn't know any better, you would think he was trying to dig a hole to China, as people say. I don't know why she started digging like that, I have looked up some information on the internet, which gives a lot of reasons. One it says is out of boredom. I also have moles in my yard, this might be what she's digging for. Ether way, if she keeps on, she'll have the whole fenced in area dug up. My dog has plenty of toys to play with and comes in and out of the house to spend time with me. So she's not a dog that is left outside all the time. Has anyone had this problem, and know how to stop it.

The moles could be the reason she is digging, if she sees them go down the hole, she will dig for them.

I think that might be it, plus she might smell them, if their close to the top of the soil. She has a great sense of smell. I see sighs of moles digging in my front yard also, I need to get rid of them and see if she will stop.

@cintol I don't know if it will work or not, but I read somewhere to put the dog's poop in the hole. It said they will not dig where their poop is at.

@sweetashoney Yeah, you will need to find out what you can put down in the holes and in the yard to get rid of them. I am sure she will stop when they are gone, you will just have to divert her attention elsewhere until then.

Just count your self lucky then! I have had different dogs over the years, don't know why some of them love to dig so much.

@domiwla That might be it to, yea that's what she is, I had one bigger then her about a year ago, it was a stray dog that came to the house. I put him in the back yard and kept him for about 3 months. I finally had to find him another good home because he started digging around my septic tank and was digging everywhere. He was one of them big type of hounds. Where he's at now, he has plenty of room to run around and other dogs to play with.
