The nature of some cats and dogs

Throughout the years I have owned some of the most loving an affectionate cats and dogs. That is all except one! All of the cats and dogs that I have had except two, have been what some people call mutts. To me, I loved them no matter if they were pure bred or not. The thing is, I'm more of a dog person then a cat one. There was even times that I had both a cat and dog at the same time. Since they grew up together, they would play, eat and sleep, together also. The two cats I had the longest was a black one named Miss Kitty and a white one with a black tail named Buttons. Both of them were the same way around the dogs. I adopted Miss Kitty after she was determined she was going to stay at my house. At the time I had a small dog that loved to be outdoors in the summer time, the only time she wanted in was long enough to eat. I started seeing this black cat on the other side of the fence. The dog would run around and bark, after while I started seeing her lay right by the fence, like she was teasing the dog. This kept on for about a week, then one day I looked out and both of them were laying together. I decided since she wanted to stay, I would let her, I went and had her fixed and she became a part of the family. I never had a problem out of her. Buttons on the other hand was totally different when it came to attitude and affection. My daughter had gotten him as a mothers day gift from her daughter when he was a kitten. But I guess the novelty soon wore off, when she moved out he was left behind. At the time I had a small dog named Toby and they were pales. I think after I gave Toby to my niece is when Buttons really changed. In some ways he had always been unpredictable, he would let you pet him for a while, but when he got tired of it, he would let you know, by sometimes scratching you. He also had a habit of when you walked by he reach out and try to scratch you then too. But after Toby left, he really got bad, if he was outside and he seen you coming, he would try his best to side swipe you. But the biggest reason I got to were I don't trust a cat is because of him! One day he came up to me and acted like he wanted to be rubbed. He put his paws on my legs, I was standing at the time, as I was rubbing him, all of a sudden he sank all his claws into my leg and bit down as hard as he could. Never trusted him after that! What is your view about cats or even dogs.
