When the cost of the repair is almost the same as the price of the item

I have this cheap phone of mine for two years. It has been rarely used. Unfortunately, the LCD was broken when I put it the pocket of bag. Some hard object might hit it causing its breakage. I wanted the LCD to be replaced, so I’d go to the nearest shop to inquire if they will be able to repair and at how much cost. I don’t’ want to discard or let the item just die down because it can still be useful. The cost of the repair including the material surprised me a bit because it is almost the same the price of the phone when I bought it.

yeah, when the interior is damaged, the cost of repair can be very pricey maybe you can just buy another one?

If that's the case, I don't want to let it be repaired. The best choice is to buy a new one.

@ZedSmart I guess you need that. For me, I usually saved my files in an external drive as a back-up. Thus, I don't need this device to be repaired.

I still have it repaired because of the files stored there.

LCD is the most expensive and if it is damaged we are forced to replace it like buying a new one.

You are right. I just won't like to give up the unit yet.

LCD repair prices are high though....but shouldn't be as much as the phone....you should definitely look for alternatives.

My phone is just cheap, that is why the cost is nearer.

Repairs are crazy for phones these days, they just want you to invest and buy a new phone that will cost 5 times the price of the old one you already have.

I should agree. I don't have plan to buy for replacement though. I have my new one coming from my plan. The item can still be useful because it's only the LCD had defect and not its operating system. I would like to call it business as usual.

Most of the things have been like use and throw kind these days. We too faced a similar situatuon with our refrigerator but the problem was with the stabiliser, not with the refrigerator unit. Thankfully we were saved hahaha

There are just times that we do not want to say goodbye yet to our things.

Older phones usually are more expensive to repair because the parts are a bit obsolete.

You are right. They almost refuse to accept but the other woman called someone if that part is still available for that model. It's their supplier maybe.

That's the case with many items these days. They aren't meant to be repaired, but to be thrown away. Often it would actually cost more to repair something than to buy a new one.

You are very true sir. I do not meant to throw it anyway. If I get to see the current price of this item, there would be significant difference this time.

if that's the case you just buy a new one/

I already applied for a plan. I just don't want this unit to die down by its own through time because it can still be benefited if repaired.
