TV And Radio Comedy Review World Of Pub

Spoiler alerts World Of Pub is a now forgotten obscure surreal Goon-Show inspired comedy about two brothers and their silly friends trying to run pubs in the East End Of London. A running gag meant each pub would be destroyed by the end of the episodes, but somehow the brothers would be back in business the very next week. The show started on radio, with four 15 minute episodes in 1998, and four half hour episodes the following year. In 2001 it moved to TV for one six episode season. It was mildly amusing but never great though it had some interesting casting on TV with Kevin Eldon, and in some episodes, a young Martin Freedman, way before he starred in The Office, Sherlock and the Hobbit movies. Guest cameos included Chas & Dave as their own tribute band and Germaine Greer. Though by no means great it is a shame there were not more episodes. I suppose it would have had a couple more seasons if there was a huge enough interest in it.
