Thankfully, we’re spared from Danger

Our five year old kid like to plug the TV’s power cord to its receptacle every morning upon waking up and then turn by himself. He might be curious why there are other remaining power cords besides and we did not notice that he plugged it all to the remaining electrical outlet though, we already forewarned him to to do it. When I’m about to plug the fan’s cord I noticed another cord plugged-in. I checked what it is because I am familiar with the fan, blower, and the cell’s charger cord. I then found out that it was the clothes iron cord and the iron plate was already very hot as well as the surface where it was topped. I always make a reminder to other members of the house to be very careful in using electrical and cooking devices. This is to avoid incident and the likes. It was known later that my niece did the ironing of clothes yesterday’s afternoon and unable to return the iron in its place after it has cooled down. It would be of fire if haven’t noticed. Thankfully that it’s not yet too late.

Good for you that you were able to realised the dangers before they actually happened. I think someone should be watchful in your house always because you have a kid who knows how to plug things up in an outlet but are unaware that some needs not be plugged in when he sees it unplugged. I think he needs also to be guided which ones are safe to plug and there are others that do not need to be plug.

We already told the kid to do not do it with other cords. Although it's not as dangerous with the iron, we forewarned him for the possible electrocution if he would touch those tips. He knows the part where to handle before plugging but with this iron incident, it's completely different as it generates heat even if the knob was not turned.

@ZedSmart I see maybe he got curios about it that is why he plugged it in. Since he did not notice anything he left that plugged in and forgot about it already. Children should always be reminded all the time because they still have short memories and forgets the small details you tell them.

@rsa101 You are true. He'd always asks for permission before or told us to do on his behalf but now, he's doing it by himself. I keep on reminding him where to hold properly. It's just an omission for this one which is very unsafe.

That is why, I am strict in telling the helper and and the niece at home that whenever they pressed their clothes for school, they should turn off its switch so that even if they forgot to unplug it, it won't be heating anymore.

@ZedSmart We have plugs that can't just be used by kids.

@SIMPLYD I want it to be installed in higher area but the electrician installed it according to standard method. This kid is clever because he will get the seat or find something that could elevate him if he want to get something that he cannot reach by extending his feet and arm alone.

It's a slip this time. Had my niece did not forget to return the iron in its proper place, the kid would not have plug it our of his curiosity. I'll impose stricter rule this time. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
