How long can food be kept after expiry. Meat, vegies, etc

oh no this is a big pet peve with me my boyfriend says that I am crazy. but for me if it is expired it anit going to be in my house it is in the trash but he says it is still good and I will tell him if it was still good it would not have a date on it. it is not good to eat anything that has expire because you can get sick from it. so dont keep it throw it out.

Expired food is meant to be thrown away. If you feed people that food, you can make them sick. What Food chain is donating that food, anyway? They should be fined for doing something so cruel.
