I woke up today thinking of the holidays we will have next week. And I also remembered the wonderful year that I was in Ciudad de México during their Independence Day on September 15, 3 days before ours.
Several Latin American countries, colonies then of the Spanish crown, took advantage of the coming of Napoleon´s brother to Spain to decide that it was time to be independent.
I was with my best friends in Ciudad de México a few years ago. Humberto took us to a delicious restaurant where we ate all of the dishes of the wonderful Mexican cuisine.

I love Mexican rancheras. And one of my friends here told me that the opera singer Plácido Domingo, also sang the ones I love best.

@marguicha I've only been to Mexico once if you can call a day in Tijuana visiting Mexico. I still have the chess set I bought in the marketplace there.

@koopharper I would not call that "visiting Mexico"
. I have been in Ciudad de Mexico ( the second biggest city in the world) several times, once for over a month, and I still think that there´s a lot left to see. I know of some people here that go to Buenos Aires to buy cheaper books or cheaper meds.
I think that they don´t add the price of the airfare.

We have much in common with Spanish speaking countries in Latin America.
