Some of you have responded to my discussion where I mentioned about the "devious" way - thanks to a computer geek - I found on the Net to retrieve my account without having to go through the normal hassles one faces
I had forgotten all information that they wanted me to provide in the first two clicks but this method took me to where I could speak to someone who helped me go through the hassle I had enough information to verify that I held that account.
You have guessed it I am in no hurry to tell paypal how I retrieved my account

I would ignore it. They would fix that loophole. I try to pick stuff that is second nature to answer for verification but then they will still say it is wrong sometimes. I know my mothers maiden name, but that was wrong when I tried to get my password at one site. I was lucky with that one, it was something I could just quit using.

I cannot thank enough that guy on the Net who published this method. I deleted that mail that asked me to talk about my account retrieval.

@allknowing That method you used is one that we have used when calling the sheriffs office here. We have 911 for emergencies. But just to report something you get a long drawn out wait period of press this or press that. Pressing zero will get you to a person faster. My sister had to do that a few years back. She was just trying to give a heads up that she was looking for her horses that got out. Then she was able to back out to find them again.

A jeweler sent me a broken item (online purchase) and later, ignored all my emails. With PayPal to help, I managed to get the item fixed. The jeweler promptly asked me to do a survey of how good they were. I didn't know what to say seriously, especially the survey went on and on with this and that details. I gave up after 10 minutes! (perhaps that was their intention in the first place?)

This round about promotion tactics need to be curbed. I am glad you gave up half way.

@allknowing They did have very bad reviews somewhere else (I didn't know before buying things from them), so when they got threatened by PayPal, and decided to fix the damaged item they had sent me, I thought perhaps I should let people know... But the survey they wanted me to fill was just toooo long!

I felt so relieved when I was able to do it though my approach was not conventional.

I have gone through that process and their representative helped me retrieve my account.
