The water is rising

Well today I had to make an unexpected trip to town. I usually only go about once in every 2 or 3 days and had made my trip yesterday. I live in an area where to get to any of the nearest towns you have to cross bridges over swamp land or a river. My son called a while ago and told me that If I needed something from town I better go and get it now. Since the roads leading to two of the towns were closed, I knew I better hurry and cross the river. I'm glad I didn't wait, all the homes about 3 miles from my home were all ready flooded and the water was already up to the road, with the homes half way under water. If I would have waited till tomorrow, I wouldn't have been able to pass and my dog would have been out of food. She only had enough for today! To my knowledge, the water does not suppose to crest until next week, so all these low area's will be under water soon.

I guess at this time of year, you should have extra supplies stocked up in case you are stranded for a long period. Food for the dog and canned goods are good for emergencies.

Your so right, I try to keep her enough food for at least a few weeks. Since I'm on a fixed income I just have to buy as much as I can afford at the time. I try to get her enough food at a time that I know will last a least though the month, but this time it just didn't last that long.

@akalinus Oh yea, so you know exactly what I'm talking about. Some months I have just enough to get by on, mostly because during this time of year my light bill takes what extra I would normally have left over.

@sweetashoney I am on a fixed income too. I know how that works. I am living on what I have in the house until I can shop again.

Do you live in a high area where you do not have to worry about the water.

No, my area is kind of low to. When the last hurricane hit before this that flood that whole area out, it came around two miles from the house. Hopefully that's as far as it will travel this time to.

@jstory07 Thank you, I'm going to keep a close watch on it. If it starts flooding here, I'll have to find a way to my daughters.

That's so scary for people who are being flooded. I hope the waters don't reach your home. Be safe.
